Who is Bill Gabovitch?
Bill Gabovitch comes to coaching after a rewarding career as a corporate lawyer for large, global companies and a non-profit leader for social justice and social service organizations. He brings the skills of leading and developing teams and people to working 1:1 with professionals who need help finding and using the space and clarity that come from being on the Open Road. Bill listens, guides, and affirms people’s own insights and self-awareness to help them move farther and more directed in their lives. Bill helps his clients say “yes” to that daunting big project or create a detailed and comfortable plan on how to retire and still be who they have always been or show up at work being seen as the deep expert and recognized leader in their area.
Bill has been a friend, a sponsor, a mentor, a teacher, a confidant and a leader to hundreds through his years in law firms, companies, non-profits, advocacy organizations and community groups. Bill has been the one to turn to for many professionals when they encounter decision points or confusion on what they want to be next.
Why Open Road?
In the summer of 2025 after leaving his then US general counsel role at an international retailer, Bill needed time to think. He was at a decision point in his work life. Where should he go next. Bill went on a solo driving trip across 9 states, 2,800 miles and 42 hours of driving. There, on the open road, he found the space and clarity to review his strengths, his talents, the work that gave him joy, the self-awareness of who he is and what work truly energizes him. Working with his own coach, he organized all his thoughts and options. He made the hard decision to pivot from his successful legal career. He doubled down on the skills and success he had experienced working 1:1 with people on what they need to move forward. Bill got very excited to help people find their own answers by guiding them to look inside themselves and self-determine their own path forward. He completed a rigorous training program as an executive coach through the internationally recognized, Co-Active Training Institute, where he completed more than 100 hours of deep coaching training and practice which embedded the skills that would serve people on their journeys to be the person and have the professional life they choose.
Bill does more than just coach.
When Bill is not coaching, teaching law school or reading presidential biographies, he lives in suburban Boston with his wife and Russian immigrant dog, Sochi. They remotely parent their 2 grown daughters and son in law, in Boston and Central New Jersey. Bill enjoys a great limited series on a streaming service, trying to create flavorful food from a recipe and, as often as possible, shredded hash brown potatoes with breakfast. Bill serves on the boards of multiple non-profits working to bring more justice and fairness to people’s lives and our society.
